Fact - Severely Damaged Tyres Need to Be Replaced as Soon as Possible

There is a clear fact when looking at damaged tyres - severe damage that cannot be ‘repaired’ need to be replaced as soon as is possible and when it is safe to do so. If your vehicle has become unsafe to drive then it’s highly important to ensure that you can get your vehicle to the garage in a safe way such as arranging for your vehicle to be transported to the garage via a vehicle recovery service (for extreme tyre damage or blowouts.) Issues such as deflating tyres, punctures and other structural damage need to be replaced. It’s highly unsafe to carry out repairs, especially with repair kits which we cover in the next section.

Myth - Tyre Repair Kits are a ‘One-Size-Fits-All’ Solution For Tyre Problems

Tyre repair kits can be used on the road and they can help with minor to medium tyre issues. If you face an issue such as deflated tyre for example - you could use a tyre repair kit to inflate your tyre enough when it is safe to do so to get you to the garage but this doesn’t mean that this then provides a repair for your tyre. Manufacturers are increasingly providing tyre repair kits in vehicles rather than a standard replacement tyre - but these often aren’t enough to repair major damage - especially in the winter months.

Fact - Some Tyre Issues Can Be Repaired Rather Than Require a Replacement

There are some issues that you can repair should they occur with your tyre repair kit but we still highly recommend that when a repair takes place - you take your vehicle to a garage to ensure that there are no further issues. There are some tyre issues that are impossible to see without taking the wheel and tyre off of the axle and carrying out a vigorous inspection. Of course - in some cases, a tyre can be repaired but we still highly recommend that you arrange for a tyre inspection when damage occurs.

Myth - Tyre Issues Are Less Important than Other Issues

Your tyres are the only thing protecting you from the road so it's highly important that you arrange for replacement tyres if you come into an issue with your tyres. We are here to help and can support you in finding the perfect tyres that suit you.
